Carlos is a lawyer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, holds a Master's (MSc.) in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and is a Senior Specialist in Constitutional Law from the Andean University Simón Bolívar.

In his professional practice, he has experience in administrative and constitutional law, has served as an advisor to the Council of the Judiciary and the Municipality of Quito, and as a Jurisdictional Constitutional Expert at the Constitutional Court of Ecuador. He has also been an associate attorney at the law firm Bermeo & Eguiguren, where he has accumulated extensive experience in non-criminal litigation, with a particular focus on constitutional jurisdictional guarantees.

In academia, he has been a graduate consultant for the NGO ActionAid, based in London, United Kingdom; director of the editorial board of the legal journal Ruptura, published by the Law School Association (AED) of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador (PUCE); president of the AED; and a member of the faculty council of the PUCE Law School. He is currently a professor in the Law program at Hemisferios University.

At MRV Abogados he is the director of the personal data protection and conflict resolution areas, and his practice is limited to constitutional, administrative, civil matters and issues related to the insurance and reinsurance market.
